Dr K K Aggarwal elected as National President, Indian Medical Association for the year 2016-17

Dr K K Aggarwal elected as National President, Indian Medical Association for the year 2016-17 New Delhi September 01, 2016: Dr K K Aggarwal, Padma Shri Awardee, who is currently Hony. Secretary General of IMA has been declared unanimously elected as National President of IMA for the year 2016-17. Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar from Maharashtra will be the National President for the year 2017-18. Dr R.N. Tandon will take over as Hony. Secretary General. The new team will take over on 28th December 2016 at the Holy City of Amritsar. Commenting on the occasion, Dr. K K Aggarwal said, “It’s an honour to be elected as the National President of IMA. It gives me an opportunity to continue my services towards the medical fraternity and ensuring transparency in the working process. I will pursue fighting for the rights of doctors, taking proactive steps to address the rising incidence of violence against doctors, relieving doctors from the Damocles sword of the consumer protection act and restoring nobility of the medical profession and faith of the public at large. It is a great responsibility which I have been endowed with and I hope I continue getting support from fellow members in the same manner as was received during my stint as the Honorary Secretary General.” Dr. Mahendra Choudhury from Gujarat, Dr. Parmanand Prasad Pal from Bihar, Dr K. Prakasam from Tamil Nadu and Dr. Roy Abhram Kallivayalil from Kerala will take over as Vice Presidents for the year 2017-2018. Dr. V.C. Shanmuganandan from Karnataka will be the Dean, IMA College of General Practitioners & Dr. Joseph Mani from Kerala has been declared the Chairman, IMA Academy of Medical Specialties. Dr. Sarbari Dutta from Bengal will be the Director, IMA AKN Sinha Institute.
