Plant more trees to save our environment

Plant more trees to save our environment

Dr K K Aggarwal Today is World Environment Day Our environment is under threat and the biggest issue that faces us all today is pollution. Air pollution is a major environmental risk to global health. And exposure to air pollution has been linked to many health problems ranging from acute and chronic respiratory disease to heart disease to stroke to lung cancer, to name a few. It is important that we understand and take timely steps to eliminate these very serious issues. We need to take care of our environment….and the only way we can do this is to plant more trees… It is one of the easiest and sustainable ways to better our environment. Trees are health-friendly. They absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the air. Trees reduce levels of PM2.5 and PM10 in the air and improve air quality. Trees absorb sound and reduce noise pollution. They cool the environment with shade and moisture, which reduces energy expenditure for heating and cooling. Trees also improve mental health and feeling of well-being. Therefore, plant as many trees as possible…
